En arrivant à la Maison Blanche, Joe Biden a trouvé une dette publique de 27.000 milliards de dollars et un déficit public de 3600 milliards. Sa première décision a pourtant été d'engager un plan de soutien de 1900 milliards, qui viendra s'ajouter aux 900 milliards votés en décembre à l'initiative de son prédécesseur. Au total ce sont 13 points de PIB, financés par endettement, qui vont être injectés dans l'économie au cours des mois à venir.
