Called to care: Will the COVID-19 pandemic drive a nursing boom?

Capital Region colleges are reporting increased interest in their nursing programs at the same time the COVID-19 pandemic has strained their ability to provide a nursing education.
While college officials couldn't say for sure what is driving the increased interest, they said there appears to be renewed appreciation for the field after the heroic efforts of nurses and other health care professionals were spotlighted during the worst of the pandemic this spring.
