Gilbert Burns ' pursuit of UFC championship glory took a tough blow Saturday when he fell short against former teammate Kamaru Usman in the UFC 258 main event.
Burns seemingly had the welterweight belt within reach when he hurt Usman early in the opening round of their headlining contest at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, but he couldn't find the necessary path to finish the fight, and ultimately the momentum was reversed on him en route to a third-round TKO defeat .
