New survey on Hong Kong security law shows business has concerns-but isn't taking action

The new national security law in Hong Kong is worrying the city's business community.
Seventy-six percent of respondents to a new survey conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong say they are either ‘extremely concerned' or ‘somewhat' concerned about the new national security law that Beijing imposed on the region on June 30. Roughly half of the 183 survey respondents are American companies with operations in Hong Kong, while 35% are headquartered in Hong Kong, and the rest are other international firms.

A majority of U.S. businesses operating in Hong Kong are worried about the impact of the controversial national security law recently imposed on the city by China, according to a survey from the American Chamber of Commerce.
The lobby group said 76% of companies were concerned about the sweeping measures barring subversion, secession, terrorism and foreign collusion, with most being “extremely concerned.” The poll of member companies - which AmCham described as a “temperature test” of members' sentiments rather than a scientific study - received responses from 183 firms, more than half of...
