The Russian fighter lost his bantamweight title Saturday at UFC 259 after landing an illegal knee on Sterling in the fourth round of their championship bout.

Aljamain Sterling lived up to his promise to claim UFC bantamweight gold on Saturday when he dethroned Petr Yan at UFC 259 - but it didn't come in the way anyone expected.
Sterling ended Yan's reign before it could get any momentum and became the fifth titleholder in divisional history when he took the belt by disqualification after Yan landed an illegal knee in the fourth round of the featured matchup, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
