MINNEAPOLIS - All eyes are on the court proceedings involving four former Minneapolis police officers, now charged in George Floyd's death.
The killing sparked outrage around the world, with cries for justice for Floyd.
Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill was assigned to the case. Former Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty appointed Cahill to the bench in 2007. Voters then elected him twice more.
Former law partner Mike Colich called Cahill's background diverse. They met while Cahill was a law clerk in the mid-80s.

MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis police officer was swiftly fired and charged with murder after bystander video showed him pressing his knee into George Floyd's neck, ignoring the Black man's cries that he couldn't breathe. But even with that powerful footage, legal experts say the case isn't a slam dunk.
Jury selection begins Monday in Derek Chauvin's trial, which is expected to come down to two key questions: Did Chauvin's actions cause Floyd's death, and were his actions reasonable?
