Schalmont falls 3-1 to Westhill in Class B boys' soccer state semifinal

Schalmont ran out of postseason magic Saturday as the Sabres were unable to overcome a 3-0 deficit in dropping a 3-1 decision to Westhill in the Class B boys' soccer state semifinals from Middletown High School.
The Sabres (18-2-3), riding a 21-game unbeaten streak, failed to generate much offense. Freshman striker Devin Renaud, brought up from the JV team for the playoffs, scored his fourth goal with 23:01 left to bring Schalmont within 3-1.
