A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot at the crowded Braintree's South Shore Plaza, and the gunman remains on the loose, according to police.
“Various MSP units and local police departments are on scene,” a state police spokesman said. “A male shooting victim has been transported to a Boston hospital with life threatening injuries.”
Braintree Police's Twitter account said the mall - one of the largest in the region - was briefly locked down, but then patrons were able to come out from cover and leave.
State police said the suspect is not in custody.
