On Wednesday, President Donald Trump appointed Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general after forcing Attorney General Jeff Sessions out. Whitaker, who served as Sessions' chief of state, will now reportedly oversee Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election-a probe he has publicly criticized and seems poised to seek to restrain.
